If I start with Stage 1, how long will it take for me to complete all three stages?  Thanks!

Ken Tamplin:

Joseph, everyone is different, but you should be able to comfortably complete the three stages in about six to eight months.  Being able to duplicate all the licks exactly will probably take longer.  A good way of utilizing all the stages is to do them multiple times.  There are a good number of students who are professional singers and they do stages 1, 2 and 3 at least twice a year to stay in shape!

Hey i wanted to start your lessons, i play keys for a band in San francisco but ive always wanted to learn to sing, i FEEL like i can sing incredibly well when im singing along with something else, e.g.? a person, the radio etc, but when i have nothing to go off of but the sound in my head it sounds terrible haha is that common???

Ken Tamplin:

Yes it’s actually very very common and a good question, I’m glad you posted it.  The best way to overcome that is to record yourself (even if it’s just a little tape recorder) while you are singing to something else that gives you confidence.  With good technique, little by little you will weed out the things you don’t like and start adding your own personality instead of copying someone elses :-)

I just bought the stage three, this man is a genius i cant thank him enough within two days my vocals have improved unbelievably thanks so much ken u truly made me confident to sing anywhere i go.

I have been dabbling with singing for almost 30 years, sang in bars for 3 years before I became a christian. I sing in church frequently, but I always had serious support and stamina problems. I purchased the first KTVA DVD almost 3 weeks ago and have been practicing daily. Within 10 days time I had stability in my voice I have never had before and 2 days ago I was nailing the high not in Beautiful, Beautiful consistantly with power, no sweat, and I’m a dude. Yes and no. The video is the same for the demonstration but the actual audio work out is gender specific. There is also a bonus video inside which was our original stages that are gender specific.

Depending on your voice and how quick you grasp the concept, most people usually take 3-4 weeks before advancing on to the next level.

What most people do is take a web cam or in studio lessons before moving on to insure they are doing it properly.

Hi James, actually my DVD’s are quite reasonable.

If you go to a decent vocal coach, they will charge anywhere from $75.00 all the way up to $500.00 per hour (seriously).
