hello there… i would really like to learn to sing things in the power metal genre… power metal is a lot like heavy metal vocals in which the vocals are extremely high, but are more melodic than in typical heavy metal.. a good example would be think not forever by lost horizon. i would very much so like to attain that

@831Wolvesbane What I teach at the Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy can help you do that.

hey ken. this vid was a nice find and it’s really good to see that you respond to your vid comments.
I hit the high notes quite comfortably, its more the bit after you went to the high E and was singing with the slight rock rasp which i am trying to develop and don’t seem to have. Can that be devloped. I am trying to get the power when singing lyrics up high though such as in the song you shook me all night long (acdc and steve tyler version on youtube).

@TariQmorningstar I actually sing You Shook Me All NIght Long in my music montage here on you tube. You may want to ceck it out. There is a very specific way to get that rasp and sing the lyrics up that high but it is a process, not a quick suggestion.

I cover all this in my DVD series in stage 3. It has to do with air stricture, not oversinging the consonant sounds etc. I hope thast helps.

still can’t find you shook me all night long in your vids ?? you sure it’s there or am i being a bit dumb! also do you do one on one lessons? or something of that nature? it would have to be skype for me as I live in England but i have something potentially very big coming up and I really want to blow them away!

    p. I know I said I was broke but I don’t expect you to give your time for nothing lol so I would make some sacrifices. as long as i can eat haha.

Is all you do the higher end? I do enjoy it but I would like how to sing in lower ranges too, I would really like to just be able to sing along with my guitar, guitar seems way easier for me to learn over singing. Having no problems with that.

@brendanleach Hi Brendan, Rob here (Ken’s assistant). You may want to check out some of Ken’s videos posted here. He’s more of a soul singer that can also sing extremely high (or in other words has developed his range) But Ken thinks the best part of the voice is the lower mid range when it comes tom emotion. Check out a few of his youtube links.

iv been singing ever since i was little. Iv dont shows at my school and done hooks for people also but I KNOW i can inprove because im not really confident when people put me on the spot, its like my voice trembles…could you teach me how to stop that or try not to be so nervous?

    bonita2209 1 week ago

@bonita2209 The best way not to get nervous is by repetition and knowledge. If you were SO confident in your voice, you would be almost cocky and not intimidated by what others thought because you KNEW you could nail it. I teach this in my DVD course at the ken tamplin vocal academy.

how long did it take u to do that high pitch?

    miguey242 1 week ago

@miguey242 You can get the range in about 6 months to a year but it takes longer to develop the low end (the phatness) when you go up so it doesn;t sound so shrill.

I was interested in learning how to sing. My voice is very soft/quiet, and hard for me to yell because my left recurrent laryngeal vocal cord is paralyzed from heart surgery I had when I was a baby. Do you still think I would be able to learn how to sing nicely?

    xxRaee 4 weeks ago

@xxRaee HI Raee, I am working with two people with a simialr condition both of whom are doing extraordinarily well. It would require extra effort on your part but it can be done.

how long did it take u to sing notes like that?

    mandy222434 4 weeks ago

@mandy222434 Mandy that’s a big question. To sing the notes like this about 5-7 years of hard training. To sing with soul…all my life :-)

@kentamplin ok thanks :) i would love to buy the dvds and have a voice coach (im 14) but it seems i cant find someone who can teach that way of singing. do u think i should get a voice coach?
