Join Now!Today I wanted to do an A capella inspired reaction and so I’m starting with one of the most well-known a cappella groups still active today: Pentatonix.
Pentatonix came to fame after winning the NBC reality show The Sing-Off in 2011 and receiving a recording contract with Epic Records as a result.
However the label ended up dropping the group and they went on to find much more success right here on YouTube. Their YouTube channel currently has over 16 million subscribers and 3.7 billion views. The group’s video tribute to Daft Punk has received over 300 million views and they have gone on to win 3 Grammys.
I chose to do a reaction to their medley “Evolution of Music” which is a vocal tour through centuries of music.
It inspired me to also share the collaboration I did with my students Anthony Vincent and Gabriela Gunčíková, where we do “65 Songs – A Journey Through Rock and Roll”. This medley similarly takes you through a historical journey in music. It took many months of work to get all of the parts orchestrated, but I think you’ll enjoy the outcome!
And finally while we were still on the subject of A capella, I decided to react to an original a capella song I did called “This One’s For You”. I did all of the parts myself and in total it was about 200 vocal tracks that we laid down.
I hope you enjoy this series of reactions and let me know your thoughts!
