One of the things that I find so unique about Daryl Hall’s sound, is his phrasing and the distinct way he arranges his note choices.

It makes it pretty impossible to replicate and just gives you the feeling that it’s just a guy in the studio vamping and ad-libbing.

What other artists can you think of that have really created a one of a kind sound that can’t really be duplicated? Let me know in the comments!

As I take you through Daryl’s isolated vocals from “Out Of Touch”, I’m going to dissect it a lick at a time and we’ll discuss how he gets that sound.

For you guys that want to know how to record really good vocals, I’ll also show you how to use effects to really make it sound really expensive, teaching you exactly how I did it.
