After hearing “Hallelujah” in the early 90s, Jeff Buckley began performing the song at shows in and around New York City, however the song didn’t receive much widespread attention until after his death in 1997.

What other well-known songs can you think of that didn’t gain popularity until after the artist was gone? Share with me in the comments!

Buckley’s death sparked a renewed interest in his work and the song, which was originally written and recorded by Leonard Cohen, went on to be covered by numerous artists.

At his live shows Jeff would close out his set with the tune which apparently would completely silence his revved up audience.

Kayla is taking on the famous tune in today’s video. Please let us know what you thought!
