Vocal Coach – How To Select Yours

vocal-coach-ken-tamplinA vocal coach is someone who will tell you what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong when you sing, and then show you how to make corrections for the better.

There are thousands of vocal coaches in the world and it is important that you find the right one for you. Your very first question should be:

  • “Coach, can you sing yourself and demonstrate it for me?”

If the answer is no, then you should move on. If the answer is yes, ask the vocal coach to show you.

The second question you should ask yourself is, does this coach have students that are so good, you are inspired by them? Or is it all just talk? This is proof of the vocal coach’s abilities.

Singing is a physical sensation, it is a real “experience” that can only be taught by physical demonstration, not by just telling you or by text book explanation.

A great vocal coach will be able to demonstrate the singing exercises in real songs and show you exactly how to apply your newly found techniques to your own singing.

What is your reason for wanting to sing in the first place? It is probably because you have something to tell the world or you are inspired by someone or something, and you know that being fully self expressed in singing is probably a gigantic rush.

Well, it is – singing is a huge rush, especially when you sing correctly and your singing ability surpasses what YOU even thought was possible. Getting there requires a steady schedule of singing lessons with a great vocal coach who will push you beyond your singing limitations.
