When one is finally getting the feel of head voice-though still in the unsteady, lack of control-“awkward” stage of it–is it beneficial to attempt to add “grit” to find the “feel” for it to employ if desired & get a handle on it right away at an early stage–or should he wait & just be totally clean and find grit later?

Thank you~!

Ken Tamplin:

Absolutely not. You must grow this area lightly and the sound velocity should be consistent. Meaning that only sing as loud as you can connect. Then, little by little add weight (volume) to that sound. This is the correct way to strengthen this section.
