It’s been over 35 years since Norwegian band A-ha released their hit “Take On Me” and the tune seems to only be getting hotter with time.
The song has garnered over a billion views on YouTube and is averaging over 480,000 views a day. It is only the second tune from the 80s to reach that mark with the other being Guns N Roses’ “Sweet Child of Mine”.
The song is considered A-ha’s signature song and combines synthpop with acoustic guitars, keyboards and drums. It went on to top the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1985 and reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart.
The iconic music video for the song was also highly successful winning 6 MTV Video Music Awards in 1985.
