When the Scotland-based band Nazareth released “Love Hurts” in 1974, it was an initial flop in the UK. However after enjoying success in South Africa, the song was released in the US where it climbed the charts to number 8 in 1976.

The following year it finally made it on to the UK charts but still never enjoyed the same success there as it did Stateside. What other bands can you think of that enjoyed more success abroad then in their home country? Let me know in the comments!

“Love Hurts” was originally recorded more than a decade earlier by The Everly Brothers but was never released as a single by the group and didn’t enjoy the same success.

The song has been redone by other well known artists including Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons and Roy Orbison. Our own Kayla Reeves is up next to take on the tune. We hope you enjoy it!
