Elton John – Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting – ft Sara Loera

Elton John would sometimes let fans get on stage and gather around his piano when performing “Saturday Night Alright For Fighting” but after one occasion where a fan kept touching John while he played, he stormed off stage and vowed to never do it again.

Elton’s longtime writing partner Bernie Taupin has said of the tune that it was his first attempt at writing a song that was totally English as most of his songwriting had focused on American culture up to that point.

The song was the first time Elton recorded a vocal standing up and he has said he was leaping around and “going crazy” to make the most of the experience.
