After achieving their first commercial success in 1985, The Cult decided to leave England for New York the following year where they met and teamed up with legendary producer Rick Rubin.

What other bands can you think of that left the UK for the US and ended up enjoying broader commercial success as a result? Share with me in the comments!

After teaming up with Rubin, he had the group re-record the album they had been working on and was all about “stripping it back to the basics”.

“Fire Woman” was released as their first single off the band’s fourth studio album and went on to reach number 2 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks.

We hope you enjoy Sara Loera’s version of this classic tune!
