Encouragement For Singers Who Want To Quit – Don’t Stop Singing!
I religiously watched a show when I was six about 4 Allied soldiers and their attempts to upset the Germans in North Africa during WWII.
The Rat Patrol.
I couldn’t get enough of that show, so one day I grabbed my Uncle’s ukulele, marched up to the attic, sat down, and started trying to bash out the theme song on the uke.
Which started a chain reaction:
(1) I picked up the guitar
(2) I started going to concerts
(3) I joined a band
(4) I started to sing
(5) And ultimately I entered into a WILD, 45-year career as a musician.
…all because of that one little spark of inspiration, caused by my love of a tacky war show as a kid.
And here’s why I’m telling you this story, my friends…
When the going gets tough…
(And it WILL get tough)
The TOUGH will Get Going!
Remember those early days when YOU first fell in love with music?
While listening to a song on the radio, or watching a magical live performance, or receiving a comment that you have a nice voice … ?
Try to feel that first spark of inspiration that eventually led to your pursuing singing now. And let that original passion seep back into your bones.
Then open your eyes…
Wipe away the tears of frustration.
Dig in your heels…
And KEEP ON SINGING!!!
The road to great singing is long and sometimes very discouraging (despite what some might have you think).
But I can honestly say that it is WELL worth it ๐
I wouldn’t trade the past 45 years of my life for anything.
And my hope is that YOU, 5 years, 10 years, or even 40 years from now will be able to look back and say the same thing:
That was SO worth it.
Because you practiced, persisted, and PREVAILED ๐
Here’s to many more years of singing,
