@poopascoopaloop Rob Hart here (Ken’s assistant) Ken does get asked to tour a lot. He spent most of his life on the road and wants to finish raising his kids first. Then he’ll go back out again…
@S3bz3r0 Rob Hart here (Ken Tamplin’s assistant). Ken teaches a course at Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy with his DVD series and personal web cam and in studio lessons that teach you to connect your chest with your head voice for one long powerful note. It takes work and correct knowledge but is doable.
hello there… i would really like to learn to sing things in the power metal genre… power metal is a lot like heavy metal vocals in which the vocals are extremely high, but are more melodic than in typical heavy metal.. a good example would be think not forever by lost horizon. i would very much so like to attain that
i dont know what to do!!! i visited your website and it looks like you really helped people out, but im only 12 and i wanted to be a singer and i loved to sing since i was born..mariah carey is my inspiration, anyway i have no money to hire a coach or buy your cds….i just dont know what to do, any advice?
hey ken. this vid was a nice find and it’s really good to see that you respond to your vid comments.
I hit the high notes quite comfortably, its more the bit after you went to the high E and was singing with the slight rock rasp which i am trying to develop and don’t seem to have. Can that be devloped. I am trying to get the power when singing lyrics up high though such as in the song you shook me all night long (acdc and steve tyler version on youtube).
@TariQmorningstar I actually sing You Shook Me All NIght Long in my music montage here on you tube. You may want to ceck it out. There is a very specific way to get that rasp and sing the lyrics up that high but it is a process, not a quick suggestion.
I cover all this in my DVD series in stage 3. It has to do with air stricture, not oversinging the consonant sounds etc. I hope thast helps.
still can’t find you shook me all night long in your vids ?? you sure it’s there or am i being a bit dumb! also do you do one on one lessons? or something of that nature? it would have to be skype for me as I live in England but i have something potentially very big coming up and I really want to blow them away!
p. I know I said I was broke but I don’t expect you to give your time for nothing lol so I would make some sacrifices. as long as i can eat haha.
Is all you do the higher end? I do enjoy it but I would like how to sing in lower ranges too, I would really like to just be able to sing along with my guitar, guitar seems way easier for me to learn over singing. Having no problems with that.
@brendanleach Hi Brendan, Rob here (Ken’s assistant). You may want to check out some of Ken’s videos posted here. He’s more of a soul singer that can also sing extremely high (or in other words has developed his range) But Ken thinks the best part of the voice is the lower mid range when it comes tom emotion. Check out a few of his youtube links.
iv been singing ever since i was little. Iv dont shows at my school and done hooks for people also but I KNOW i can inprove because im not really confident when people put me on the spot, its like my voice trembles…could you teach me how to stop that or try not to be so nervous?
@bonita2209 The best way not to get nervous is by repetition and knowledge. If you were SO confident in your voice, you would be almost cocky and not intimidated by what others thought because you KNEW you could nail it. I teach this in my DVD course at the ken tamplin vocal academy.
@miguey242 You can get the range in about 6 months to a year but it takes longer to develop the low end (the phatness) when you go up so it doesn;t sound so shrill.
I was interested in learning how to sing. My voice is very soft/quiet, and hard for me to yell because my left recurrent laryngeal vocal cord is paralyzed from heart surgery I had when I was a baby. Do you still think I would be able to learn how to sing nicely?
@xxRaee HI Raee, I am working with two people with a simialr condition both of whom are doing extraordinarily well. It would require extra effort on your part but it can be done.
@kentamplin ok thanks 🙂 i would love to buy the dvds and have a voice coach (im 14) but it seems i cant find someone who can teach that way of singing. do u think i should get a voice coach?
So your saying join me on KTVA, do you have like a subscription type deal. Im moving in 6 months to help a church that is much smaller then the one I am in now. I can hide my horrible voice easy with everyone elses singing but leaving in 6 months to a smaller one, i’ll stick out like a sore thumb. The congregation wont mind of course, just that I want to be better, let me know what you offer, cost whatever… stillfalln81 1 month ago

Hey Ken, I’m the bassist (Spider) of the supergroup. I would just like to second mfperna’s (Montgomery Frederick Perna) notion. We feel that you would be a great addition to this band. This band will revolutionize rock as we know. With Roy Clark and Creed Bratton we could produce some electrifying music.
Cheers
Spider
Would you be interested in joining my supergroup? I’m trying to get a band together and we need a drummer/singer. So far I have me, Roy Clark, and Creed Bratton from the Grass roots. I have a world tour set up so I need a response by tomorrow…
@kentamplin Well sleep on it because i really think we have the potential to go big and i would really hate for you to miss out on this great opportunity. Were going for a dance pop style genre, were actually really a kim mitchell cover band except we change all the lyrics into pro-christian hyms, like our hit single right now rockland forgivenessland.
Practicing musicians / learners, if you could fill out my easy 4 question survey for my research project it would be much appreciated. The link is in the info of my video called practicing musicians thanks. PointBlankNZ 2 months ago
it seems to be when i go from a lower pitch to a higher pitch theres a bit of a pause, so instead of sound its just air until i reach a not or a pitch higher its last for about half a second. im mot sure how to really explain it but do you know how i can fix this?
@qaws162 Yes I cover this thoroughly in my DVD series. YOu have to work the break section very lightly (only until it connects) and then gradually start leaning into the sound to build this area. It will take a little bit of time (like building any muscle) but it will be worth it.

I tend to flex my stomache when I sing.. It makes it easier to hold notes.. thats what you mean by “pushing down on diaphragm” right? Also, shud I approach singing in the same way when im singing light head and mix? Singing in “the back of the throat” when I’m singing rather soft gives a sort of strained sound a lot of the time. When i sing soft head I find the resonation is in my mask and I have lesser breath to complete phrases. Shud I sing in the back when im singing head voice?
@stebolian It sounds to me like you are using too much air and need better support. If you are choking off you throat to get those notes it will wear on the chord.

Wow dude you can sing. I think your hot to! I sure like these videos. Would you like to hear me sing? LOL. People tell me I sing with a twang and that I sound strained. I wanna sing Rock. I just want to stop singing through my nose. Could you help me out? You should hear me sing Queensryche Karaoke? LOL. Yes, I am a chick. I have talent but it needs to be worked on. People hear the talent and have told me, so it’s not like I suck really bad. There is hope. LOL
So I can already do this sort of thing, singer of eleven years, 4 octaves, 2 above and below middle , in full voice. Can you still teach me more? This is right up my alley.
Some of it is true, some of it isn’t. Not sure where your voice is really at but if you consider people like David Bowie, Tom Petty, Bob Dylnad and a huuuge host of others where their mother told them thy couldn’t sing, I thin we would be missing a huge chunk of great artistry that has blessed the world.

@kentamplin I’m not sure how to ask this question. After the peak of the scale you have that “rock”(grindy?) sound. It is absolutely amazing. I’m wondering if that is something that can be trained or a sound that is unique to the voice of the singer.
You can learn. 4 years ago I couldn’t sing above middle C, now I can sing soprano high C in full tone with no strain and insane volume. It’s all practice, but it’s more important to know what to practice.
