In his own words, Rob Halford said that he felt that “Painkiller was the best representation of Judas Priest.”

Meaning that if you took all of the Judas Priest songs, he felt that this one song was the quintessential example (musically speaking), of what Judas Priest was all about.

In addition, it is probably the most difficult Judas Priest song to sing.

In this video I demonstrate two different approaches to how to sing Painkiller.

The recorded video demonstration is my singing painkiller and what we call “chest voice”.

In Rob Halford’s version, he uses predominately all “head voice”.

I discuss and demonstrate the differences of both versions so you can see the difference and decide how you would like to approach a song like this.
