It has been fun and interesting to see how some of my female KTVA vocalists handle guy vocal-driven songs.

And the ironic thing is that I am not asking them to do this! They are wanting to do this on their own after they realize the power, control, range, distortion, and longevity they are developing from doing the KTVA program.

I’ve seen many people chime in and many comments say “oh sure it’s easier for girls to sing guys’ songs because their range is higher.”

First off, we adjust the range, usually up a full step or a step and a half, to accommodate the range of the vocalist and to make it higher, more demanding, and more difficult.

But second, girls’ vocal cords are considerably smaller in length and girth than guys’, making it much more difficult to achieve a big, phat, round sound, not to mention how much more difficult it is to develop that kind of distortion.

Next up to bat is Mr. Rob Halford of Judas Priest and the song is “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming!”
