Pour Some Sugar On Me – Def Leppard – Cover – Gaston Jauregui – Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
Def Leppard. One of the biggest arena rock bands of the 80’s with incredible hits such as Love Bites, Photograph, Hysteria, Rock Of Ages, Bringin’ On The Heartbreak, Animal, Foolin’, Armageddon It, and many others, Gaston and I chose “Pour Some Sugar On Me.”
A funny backstory to this song. Word on the street was that near the end of recording the album Hysteria, during a production break, lead singer Joe Elliott was jamming with a riff he had come up with two weeks earlier on an acoustic guitar. It’s believed that the song was actually kind of a “joke” as Joe had been playing around with changing “Sugar Sugar” by the Archie’s. (no kidding) Producer Mutt Lange (producer of AC/DC and later Shania Twain) said, ha ha, let’s do it!
Within two weeks the song was recorded as the twelfth track on Hysteria.
So when you get a chance, take a listen to Sugar Sugar by the Archies and especially the end where Sugar Sugar says: “pour a little sugar on me honey… pour a little sugar on me baby…” and then play “Pour Some Sugar On Me” and see if you hear any similarities 🙂
With that said: It is a killer arena blockbuster with phenomenal production.
So I give you: “Pour Some Sugar On Me.”
