Mercy – Duffy – cover – Tori Matthieu – Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
Have you noticed how many cool “organic” pieces have been coming out of the UK?
It kinda started (at a high commercial level) with Adele back in 2007 with Matinee and then her monstrous follow up of Rolling In The Deep.
Then came The Ting Tings with “That’s Not My Name” released in 2007.
Joss Stone and many other British artists have been maintaining using “acoustic” based instruments to keep things as organic as possible.
Then came Mercy, which was released in 2008 and garnered Duffy huge success.
This happens to be one of my favorite approaches to music. I love hearing things that sound live and natural.
I believe Duffy was in this place as well when she recorded “Mercy.”
KTVA vocalist Tori Matthieu and I thought it would be fun to put our hat in the ring and try this epic piece and put our own spin on it.
I believe Tori did a stellar job! I hope you think so too!
