In the midst of Foreigner’s recording of “I Want To Know What Love Is”, the band continued to change up the song and ended up making the last minute decision to add a gospel choir.

The New Jersey Mass Choir provided the background vocals for the song which ended up becoming the first number one pop hit to feature a gospel choir.

Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones has said of writing the tune, “Sometimes, you feel like you had nothing to do with it, really. You’re just putting it down on paper”.
