Join Now!Those of you that regularly watch my videos know that I’ve got mad love for Lou Gramm. He is one of my greatest vocal influences and today we’ll explore why.
Lou got his start as the frontman of a band called Black Sheep who were signed to Capitol Records. The band opened for KISS at one point but because they were not able to regularly tour, they ended up disbanding.
A few years later Gramm was given the chance to audition in New York for a band called Trigger. He ended up getting the gig and the band eventually changed their name to Foreigner.
As lead singer to Foreigner, Lou became one of the most successful rock vocalists of the late 70s and 80s.
The group’s first eight singles reached the Billboard Top 20, making them the first band to achieve this milestone since the Beatles.
Gramm’s golden throat and tone, along with his ability to write classic, timeless songs are what really stands out for me and I’ll be diving further into what else I thought distinguished him from the rest.
I’d also love to hear what all of you think of when discussing Lou Gramm so please be sure to share in the comments section!
