Chris Cornell. One of the greatest (if not THE greatest, in my humble
opinion) modern rock singers.
He left us way too soon.
He inspired so many, including myself and Gabby.
To be candid, the early 90’s were very disheartening for me, from a singing and playing virtuoso standpoint.
80’s metal and melodic rock had died and grunge took over the rock world.
Single-handedly, Kurt Cobain and Nirvana (as well as Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and others) had completely crushed melodic rock.
I had wondered why they couldn’t co-exist. There were so many similarities with guys like Layne Staley, where it was as though the tides had changed and people wanted something different.
But when I heard Chris in Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple Of The Dog, I was like WOW! That is one tough act to follow.
So Gabby, (who is also a huge Cornell fan) and I thought it would be fun, as a girl, to cover one of Chris’ pieces.
Yes, I know there will be haters out there, because (especially guys) don’t like to see girls covering “guy songs” however: we felt we could try to do it some justice.
So with that said, we chose the James Bond Theme “You Know My Name.”
We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed doing it.
