Crazy story for you guys.
A few years ago I was teaching famed Tattoo artist Kat Von D.
At that time, she was dating Nikki Six.
The song “Kickstart My Heart” came up and she said this is the true (unofficial) story behind the song.
Nikki did heroin.
He was in the UK, I believe (from what I remember Kat saying).
Nikki was at a well-known drug dealer’s house while “sampling” the “goods. (Incidently, this drug dealer was also the “inspiration” behind “Dr. Feelgood” as well.)
Nikki was impressed with how “clean” the place was (if you know what I mean).
Immediately after shooting up, his lips started to turn blue, and he began showing signs of overdosing.
The drug dealer freaked out, got out a bat, and beat him and had him thrown into a trashcan outside the building. (you can’t make this stuff up)
As he whimpered from the trashcan, someone heard him and called for emergency services.
An ambulance showed up and the lead medic said: “I know this guy! This is Nikki Six from Motley Crue!”
As Nikki’s heart began to fail, the medic shouted “You are not dying on my watch!” and injected him with a high dose of adrenaline (Epinephrin, from what I remember) Hence, the name of the song “Kickstart My Heart” was taken from this incident.
Nikki did make it to the hospital and almost miraculously recovered, and vowed to immediately move to sobriety.
I know I covered this song with one of my other students, but Kati and I wanted to give it another try, as well.
