Join Now!The British rock band Radiohead was originally called On A Friday, named for the day they would meet for practice while in school together. They later came up with the name Radiohead from the Talking Heads song “Radio Head”
Lead singer Thom Yorke says he was inspired to become a rock star after seeing Queen guitarist Brian May on television.
Their song “Creep” was released as their debut single in 1992 and went on to become a worldwide hit.
Apparently the song is about a girl who rejected Thom Yorke the lead singer. He developed feelings for her at a distance and followed her for a while when he was studying at Exeter University. So he did take on the actual role of a “creep”. In the end she wound up rejecting him and so provided the inspiration for the song.
As of 2011 the band had sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. Their work is seen by both listeners and critics as some of the best music of the 1990s and 2000s. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
Here’s my reaction to “Creep”, let me know your feedback!
