She’s come along way from the small island of Barbados where she grew up. In 2005 Rihanna moved to the US to pursue her music career.
She soon signed with Def Jam Recordings and her first two studio albums peaked within the top ten of the US Billboard 200 chart.
Rihanna has broken the Vevo record for the most views in a 24 hour period at 4.93 million with her song “Where Have You Been”. She also holds the record for the first woman to pass 2 billion views on YouTube.
She is one of the youngest artists to achieve 12 number 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
Back in Barbados she is very well loved. She was named the official face of Barbados tourism in 2007 and she holds the honorary title of Ambassador of Culture and Youth. They even created a national holiday to honor her.
Having sold over 250 million records, Rihanna is one of the world’s best-selling music artists.
