The original version of “Child In Time” ran for over 10 minutes and was first featured on Deep Purple’s album: Deep Purple in Rock, released in 1970.

The song was inspired by the Vietnam War as well as a song called “Bombay Calling” by the band It’s a Beautiful Day, according to Ian Gillian.

A staple at their live shows, the tune has gone on to become an anthem telling of inhumanity and war.

The song has been ranked at number 16 of the Top 100 Guitar Solos of All-Time by Guitarist magazine and has been covered by multiple other great artists including Yngwie Malmsteen.

Today I’ll be taking on the classic tune myself and I hope you all enjoy my version. Please make sure to let me know what you thought!
