Otis Redding is probably one of the most influential and inspirational Motown singers of all time with his killer voice, amazing tone, and a sensitivity like no other.
Redding grew up in Georgia and quit school at the age of 15 to support his family by touring and performing.
At 17 he joined a band called the Pinetoppers touring the Southern states as both a singer and a driver for the group.
Two years later he would release his debut album and in addition to playing the Whiskey Go Go in Los Angeles, he toured all over Europe.
I’ll be taking a look at live performance from the Monterey Pop Festival as we listen to Otis’ big, fat, warm vocals and explore the timelessness of his music.
I hope you all enjoy the video and I’d love to hear what you thought made Otis great in the comments section!
