For my songwriting friends out there, how do songs usually come to you? Do you begin with the lyrics or create the notes first?

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx wrote “Kickstart My Heart” while scribbling notes on a piece of paper as he played acoustic guitar.
Once he shared the results with the rest of the band the tune apparently came together very quickly.
