Written by Bread frontman David Gates, “Everything I Own” charted not only for his own band but also was the first number one hit for Boy George, in addition to being a chart topper for Jamaican reggae artist Ken Boothe.

Although the lyrics to the song could be interpreted as a love song, Gates actually wrote it as tribute to his father who passed before being able to see the success David achieved with Bread.

For Reggae singer Ken Boothe’s version he kept the title the same but sang “Anything I Own” instead of “Everything” making it one of a select few UK hits that did not include the title in the lyrics.

I hope you all enjoy my version of the tune, let me know what you thought!
