    • Nightwish is probably the biggest symphonic metal band that’s ever existed, which made stepping into the role of lead singer a pretty tall order.

    We’re going to compare how Tarja Turunen, Anette Olzon, and Floor Jansen all measured up but I want to hear from you! Who do you think did it better and why? Please share with me in the comments!

    Tarja has a very operatic approach with pure, bel canto vowels which she integrates with belting and she’s able to go up into her upper register and throw down pretty hard.

    We’ll compare her style next to Anette’s who brought more of a pop, ABBA-type sound to the band and we’ll finish by looking at the way that Floor was able to combine the two styles together.
