    • Here is a band that has been able to withstand the test of time. I’m not going to say that I have been the greatest fan of Metallica, but what I am a fan of is, how they represented hard metal, their songwriting, precise musicianship (particularly in the rhythm department), and their ability to sustain incredible energy on stage for long periods of time.

    I know Elton John has come out and has declared that their song “Nothing else matters” is one of the greatest rock songs ever written (I think he might’ve even said the greatest rock song ever written, please correct me if I’m wrong).

    I have to say, from the bottom of my heart, I don’t believe that it is the greatest rock song ever written. And I don’t think it competes with Stairway to Heaven. But I do think it was a well-crafted song that came from the heart. I do appreciate its lyrical value and it maintains the core of the sound that fans have come to know and love from Metallica.
