Few songs in Rock n Roll history have ever attained this level of iconic, legendary status, such as The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again”.

Many remember it for its epic scream by Roger Daltrey.

Others are reminded of the insane drumming of Keith Moon who left us way too early.

Guitar enthusiasts also remember the highly orchestrated pocket guitar playing of Pete Townsend.

As I was putting together this song to sing, I built this song from scratch. From the ground up.

It was quite an interesting task because there are almost no parts in the song that repeat themselves exactly and it was as though each person is taking a solo and somehow it works when it all comes together (kind of like a John Coltrane song or something, ha ha).

But one more thing I was impressed with: the lyrics of the song.

Here is the opening line:

“We’ll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I’ll tip my hat to the new Constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again”

These lyrics couldn’t be more prescient for today.

Well I tip my hat to “The Who” – Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, and the gang, and hope that I did this song some justice.
