The 80s produced so many great artists.
I remember somewhat fresh out of college, coming off of the rockabilly era, and wondering if rock was dead.
I’m not kidding!
I remember being in a band when I was 17 years old and the leader of the band – who is a big fan of Tom Petty, even more so at that time – embracing the rockabilly movement that it just started to resurge.
And he referred to bands like Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, Queen, Boston, and so forth, as “Dinosaur Rock” (this was circa 1980).
How crazy it is that all these years later, these bands are still relevant today, and that they’ve withstood every battering ram of music that has come along to knock them off of their pedestal.
I think it’s fair to say that this is even true of artists such as Billy Idol.
And I’ve always loved the guitar work of Steve Stevens.
So I decided to throw my hat in the ring.
