Alanis Morissette – Thank U – Cover – Giusy Ferrigno

Dude!

When I first heard “You Oughta Know” off of “Jagged Little Pill”, I literally thought it was Michael Jackson gone heavy rock with some great angst and energy.

This gave me my first “one eyebrow raise” to Alanis Morissette.

Then her follow up album “Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie” came out
(yes, I know, she did other records prior to “Jagged Little Pill”, but this was my first introduction to her), and these two albums literally owned, and I mean owned, planet earth for about two solid years. It seemed like you could hardly go into a train station in Europe, a mall in Japan, a restaurant in the US, or turn on any radio station that wasn’t pumping these records out 24/7.

And somehow, a couple of decades later, the songs seem to have literally disappeared off the planet.

I did two different versions of “Uninvited” (incredible piece), the soundtrack song Alanis did for the movie “City of Angels” [Here is Gabriela’s version https://youtu.be/EMQNPVijZOo as well as my cover of “Uninvited” https://youtu.be/g8y9pnG0dkE]

So I thought it would be fun to take on Alanis Morissette’s “Thank U” with Giusy.

At some point, I will get around to doing “You Oughta Know”.
