I can’t tell you how much I loved doing this song with Kati.
We had just come off of doing two Journey songs back to back.
And we were having fun in the studio saying: what do you get when you combine a ballad with arena rock? Answer: Ballerina Rock!
So Kati and I both started singing the Twisted Sister song “I Wanna Rock!”
And I turned to Kati and said: “if I could fire up any rock song right now that I have in my Radar recording system and you were just to walk in the room and crush it, what song would that be?”
And she said: “I’ve always wanted to do Velvet Revolver’s Slither!”
I said, “Whoah! I just put that in my rig two weeks ago”!
I fired it up, she walked in the room, and absolutely crushed it on the first take, and I mean crushed it on the first take!
She wanted to redo it and I said “Hell no, this thing rocks! We’re leaving it just like it is!” (I think she even surprised herself, actually!)
I don’t know, maybe I’m over exaggerating, so I’ll leave it up to you guys tell us what you think in the comments section, but I’m telling you, this is pretty dang cool if you ask me.
Great job Kati! You’ve come a long way and you’ve worked very hard on your voice!
