“Carry On Wayward Son” was the first major hit for Kansas and it features a very distinct intro with a capella vocals at the beginning of the song.

Similarly to “Dust In The Wind”, the song ended up being a last minute addition to the album and when Kerry Livgren shared it with the band they knew instantly it would be a hit.
The song also apparently saved the band as due their previous inability to get serious radio airplay, producer Don Kirshner had given them one last chance to either produce a hit record, or be dropped by the label.
