I cannot tell you how many vocal coaches I have been to who espouse the idea that we should only warm up for 15 or 20 minutes and only sing for 30 or 40 minutes after, otherwise we could tear down the muscle structure of our vocal cords and go hoarse and possibly do damage.

This couldn’t be further from the truth!

While it may be true that we want to start out slow to build up stamina over time, the ultimate goal is to be able to sustain singing as effortlessly as possible with the best placement of vowels to grow the vocal folds (just like any other muscle structure in your body).

There is a right way and a wrong way to do this.

In this video, I discuss the kind of “Ping” that we need in our voice to grow it safely, healthfully and powerfully.

So if you’re ready, let’s get started!
