Singing Lessons For Guitarists

There are some really great guitarists out there that have never thought through an important concept: your value to any given band or project may be increased exponentially by having developed some singing skills.

There is some incorrect tribal “knowledge” out there that says you must be “born a singer” because there is “no way to learn to sing well if you aren’t “born” with a singer’s voice.”

Believe me, early in life as a guitarist, I had no singing skills at all, until I realized that a lot of doors to opportunities would open up to me if only I had some degree of singing capability. I started learning all that I could about singing, and over a period of time, I got the right information, and began studying and practicing. That’s when I got into my first actual PROFESSIONAL bands, and began my professional career as an artist.

Your voice is a living INSTRUMENT. You can learn to operate it and develop your skills as a vocalist. If you apply yourself to this pursuit with the same passion and determination you used to learn your primary instrument (guitar, keyboards, drums…), you will see the same kind of progress you have experienced with your other musical pursuits.
