The story behind this song is a bit macabre, but thankfully has a “happy ending.”
The inside scoop is that Nikki Sixx was a heavy heroin user. Nikki was at a “well-known” drug dealers house.
Nikki was impressed with how clean the needles were (like a Dr.’s office… maybe also the inspiration for Dr. Feelgood).
Nikki shot up and then started to turn blue.
The drug dealer panicked and whacked him with a bat and took him downstairs from his apartment, leaving him to die in a dumpster.
Someone heard moans and called 911.
Paramedics showed up (one who apparently was a Motley Crue fan) and shot him full of adrenaline saying no one is going to die in my ambulance.
Well Nikki did die. For a little over 2 minutes, but apparently the adrenaline shot “Kickstarted” his heart.
(Whew… )
Unfortunately Nikki didn’t learn his lesson.
After hospital checkout he was back to shooting up.
But now he realized that if he didn’t stop, he WAS going to die.
So he (and the band) checked themselves into rehab.
Nikki has been clean ever since, and does an amazing amount of inner city mentoring.
