DEEP PURPLE | HIGHWAY STAR | Ritchie Blackmore | Ian Gillan Cover

This song was literally written on a tour bus when a reporter asked the band how they did their songwriting. Ritchie Blackmore grabbed a guitar and started riffing in the key of G, while Ian Gillan started improvising lyrics. The band played the song at their gig that night!

I’m having a blast with these Deep Purple rock anthems. I have long enjoyed learning from these guys, the original members of one of the first rock SuperGroups.

Ian Gillan is one of many legendary vocalists who toured and recorded with Deep Purple. You have to have your chops in good shape to take on this type of Rockstar vocal styles.
