Amy Lee of Evanescence was quite the trailblazer.
While I have already written about her life in a blog from previous Evanescence vocal performance videos I have done with my students Giusy and Kati, I did want to comment about Amy Lee’s uniqueness.
At that time, there were very few bands combining an operatic approach to Goth, Rock and even Pop Rock type ballads.
Amy created her own unique sound with this approach.
Many female fronted Goth bands have hovered around a similar sound such as, Jessicka Fodera (Jack Off Jill), Tarja Turunen (Nightwish), Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde), Chibi (The Birthday Massacre), Tina Root (Switchblade Symphony), Lady Galore (Lords of Acid) and many others.
But the operatic virtuosity Amy Lee stood out and was destined for massive mainstream success.
This inspired me to want to do a vocal coach reaction in hopes that it will inspire you!
