Fleetwood Mac have sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the world’s best-selling bands of ALL-TIME!!
Interestingly enough, despite selling millions of records Fleetwood Mac only has one No. 1 hit to its name.
The band was actually a combo of British-American members. The founding members including Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green and John McVie, were all British and originally, the band was primarily a blues band.
Mick Fleetwood would later meet Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks when scouting studios in Los Angeles and ended up asking them to join the band. The addition of these two gave the band more of pop rock sound.
Their album “Tusk” which was released in 1979 was reportedly a nightmare for record executives. The lengthy, experimental album reportedly cost about $1.4 million to produce, making it the most expensive album ever made at the time.
The band’s drug use and disharmony in the group has been well documented and according to Rolling Stone, at least 12 people have been replaced in Fleetwood Mac over the years. Only founding member Mick Fleetwood has been there through all the lineups.
The song I will be reacting to is “Rhiannon” written by Stevie Nicks. It was voted #488 in The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine.
