My Immortal – Evanescence cover – Giusy Ferrigno

Amy Lee of Evanescence is arguably one of the most influential female vocalistsof the past 2 decades.

I thought it would be interesting to share some fun facts about Amy.

The band was founded in 1995 by 13-year-old vocalist Amy Lee and 14-year-old guitarist Ben Moody. These young people met in the Summer Camp of Christian youth and by the mid-90s they had written the songs “Give Unto Me” and “Understanding”, and then “My Immortal” and “Haunted”.

One of the possible names of Evanescence could be “Childish Intentions” and “Stricken”.

In 2010, after the release of the single “Together Again”, which became the official B-side of the second album “The Open Door”, the group donated all funds from its sales to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

During their long music career, Evanescence has repeatedly gotten into various prestigious nominations and awards. Currently, the group has 20 awards and 58 nominations, including MTV Awards (16 nominations, 3 wins), Teen Choice Awards (2 nominations), National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Grammys (2 wins in 7 nominations), Billboard Music Awards (2 wins in 3 nominations) and so on. In addition, the very frontperson of the band, Amy Lee, has repeatedly won various awards, including those that evaluated her physical beauty (Kerrang! Awards “Sexiest Female”, Revolver Magazine’s “Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock”, and NME Awards “Hottest Woman”), and those that focused on her professional merits (National Music Publishers Association’s “Songwriter Icon Award”, Revolver Golden Gods Award “Best Vocalist”, Parents’ Choice Award “Silver Honor in Music”, etc.).

Amy is actually scared of haunted houses. She loves to drive rash. She is a ruthless driver, scaring off her passengers. She is a strict No-diet follower. She loves full-fat food. Amy hates politics. Though we see her black hair, actually she has blonde hair which she has dyed.

The majority of her dresses are designed by herself. She is allergic to crustacea (shell fish). She feels she has been misunderstood widely. She truly believes in the supernatural. If Amy was not a rock singer she would either have been a nurse or a social worker. Amy Lee is intensively afraid of sharks. Halloween is her favorite holiday. When she was a kid, Amy Lee wanted to be a veterinarian Her idol is Michael Jackson.

With that said: Giusy and I thought it would be fun to cover a great Icon like Amy, so we chose “My Immortal.”

KTVA has covered “Bring Me To Life” in a previous Evanescence video.

Let us know how we did on this one!

Purchasing Kens material was a turning point in my life and the best thing that i have ever spent my $$$ on.” John Ash

Active KTVA Students in The KTVA Singers Forum:

“It’s awesome. The private sections of the forum are worth the price of admission alone. I struggled with 2 different tertiary (university Level) level teachers (6 months each about 8 years ago) telling me my voice just wouldn’t be able to do what i wanted to be able to do and even if it could, the material i wanted to be able to sing would be too ‘Dangerous.’ Absolute rubbish. If you do the work thats laid out in this course, you are golden, I started in March Last year struggling to hit the E4 note in ‘Under the Bridge’ chorus now I can sing this stuff:
Honestly man, you are not going to find a bad review here. The course and this forum completely demystifies every single aspect of great singing. Just be prepared to do the work.”
