What About Love? I’ll tell you what:
Originally recorded in 1982, by the rock band “Toronto”, Heart released “What About Love” in 1985 on their self-titled album, “Heart” where it soon became a Billboard Top 10 hit. Interesting to note that along with Ann Wilson’s dynamic, powerhouse vocals, background tracks were provided by Grace Slick and Mickey Thomas of Starship fame.
“What About Love” is a classic ‘80s power ballad that has been covered and sampled by various artists including Lil Wayne and Kelly Clarkson. Many a young, spandex clad rocker would confess to belting this standard, into the Aqua Net “mic”, preparing to see, “Back to the Future”. All while sipping on a can of, “New Coke”.
“What About Love” has stood the test of time as the plaintive lyrics convey the universal yearning for love. Sara and I hope you enjoy her version of this rock classic as we salute BIG ballads and even BIGGER hair!
